Ultrafiltration Membrane System
Ultrafiltration membrane is one of the earlier developed polymer membranes, which is a microporous filtration membrane with a rated pore size range of 0.001~0.02 microns. Applying appropriate pressure on one side of the membrane, the solvent and some low molecular weight solutes in the solution penetrate from the small pores of the ultrafiltration membrane to the other side of the membrane, while high molecular weight solutes or some emulsified micelle groups are intercepted, achieving the effect of filtration and separation.
In the field of water treatment, ultrafiltration membrane technology has a higher efficiency in filtering impurities compared to other filtration technologies, and can remove the vast majority of harmful substances from water; And with little or no use of chemical agents, it effectively avoids secondary pollution of water quality, resulting in better water quality after treatment. From an operational perspective, the filtration system based on ultrafiltration membrane technology has a high degree of automation, simple and reliable operation, and only has two operations: on and off. Due to its strong chemical stability, resistance to acid and alkali corrosion, and high temperature resistance, ultrafiltration membranes can be disinfected at high temperatures and have a wide range of applications.
Technical Principles
Ultrafiltration membrane technology is a membrane permeation separation technology, with a filtration capacity between nanofiltration and microfiltration. Its working principle is:
When a solution passes through a semi permeable membrane, under pressure, small molecules in the solvent and solute can reach the other side of the membrane through the filter membrane, while large molecules and colloids in the solute are intercepted due to their inability to pass through the pores of the filter membrane. As the solution continues to flow, more and more substances are intercepted on the membrane. Therefore, in order to achieve ultrafiltration, greater pressure must be applied to the solvent, At the same time, the substances formed on the surface of the membrane also exhibit certain chemical properties, which have the ability to intercept and decompose some pollutants, thereby achieving water purification.
With the continuous increase of macromolecular substances on the membrane surface, the filtration rate decreases, leading to the phenomenon of "concentration polarization". In order to ensure the continuous and effective ultrafiltration, a stirring ultrafiltration device is often used in practical work to eliminate the phenomenon of "concentration polarization".
